Santander Cycles offers a convenient bike-sharing scheme for short journeys in inner London. The Santander Cycles app, developed by Transport for London, is the sole app that allows users to receive bike release codes directly on their smartphone, eliminating the need to use the docking station terminal and allowing for a quicker start to your ride.

To get started, simply register your bank card and utilize the app to "Hire now" from a nearby docking station. Follow the provided instructions to obtain your bike release code, which can be entered into the docking point before embarking on your journey.

Additionally, the app provides users with various features, including up-to-date information regarding bike and space availability at different docking stations. It also includes a user-friendly map for journey planning and sends notifications such as hire cost summaries. Users can review their recent trips and charges, save favorite docking stations, and even participate in the London Rider program by completing challenges and earning entries into a weekly prize draw.

Each bike release code remains valid for 10 minutes at your selected docking station. It's important to note that the app does not reserve bikes. If no bikes are available at your desired location, don't fret. Utilize the app to locate a nearby docking station with available bikes and obtain another release code for that location. Charges are only incurred once you use a release code.
